Engineered Ground Anchorage
8x More Ground Anchorage Than a Regular Post
When it comes to end assemblies, what’s in the ground matters most. A regular round post holds on friction alone, so the moment the soil gets wet or starts to shift, the post shifts with it. The Drive-Tight® anchors into the ground mechanically, and it stays put.
HOW LOKDOWN LUGS WORK
Every Drive-Tight® post comes with LokDown Lugs already fitted, sitting in the post at 45 degrees straight out of the box. Drive the post in by hand, then drive a star picket down through each lug and into the ground at that same angle. Half-length pickets suit standard ground; full-length pickets give you the most hold. Those angled pickets work like underground anchors. They lock the post against pull-out and twisting, and hold it steady when the ground tries to shift it sideways. It works in any soil type, from soft sand and black soil through to rock.
Want the same hold on your own round posts? LokDown Lugs are sold separately and screw on any post at the same 45-degree angle.
WHY IT HOLDS WHEN OTHERS LET GO
Standard round post
Relies on friction alone. When the soil gets wet or loosens, the post moves with it.
Concrete-in post
Rigid until the ground gets wet. In reactive soil the water can push the concrete footing up, and once it starts to lift the post moves with it.
LokDown Lug system
Anchors the post mechanically with angled pickets underground, so it stays where you put it.

How It Works
Designed For Strength In Australian Conditions
The Drive-Tight’s unique profile drives straighter than a round post and cuts through soil more easily
Guides at 40° for driving star pickets through at an angle
Angled underground anchors that resist pull-out, twist, and lateral force — delivering the 8x anchorage
Mechanical anchorage means you can strain onto it immediately — no curing time
BOLT-TOGETHER DESIGN
One Spanner. No Machinery.
The whole Drive-Tight® end assembly goes together with hand tools. The post drives straight into the ground with our galvanised post driver, and everything after that bolts up on the universal 19mm bolt system, so one spanner handles the post connector, stay, footplate and tension cable. No welding, and no machinery. Because it’s all bolted, you can pull it apart, adjust it, or move it any time.
Our Drive-Tight® Post Driver a 21kg galvanised hand driver, all it takes to sink the post. You can buy your own if you have a lot of end assemblies to install, or you can borrow one from your local stockist.
What’s in the kit:
The Process
- Drive the post — Picket base goes in by hand with a post driver
- Attach the stay connector — Bolts onto the post at the correct angle
- Fit the stay — Slides into the connector, bolt to secure
- Connect the footplate — Bolts to the base of the stay
- Run the tension cable — Thread through and tension with the eyebolt
- Cap the post — Push-fit cap on top, done
Designed to Absorb Ground Movement
Why a Floating Footplate?
The end assembly is the backbone of your fence, so the strainer post should be the only part that’s fixed. Everything else needs to move with the ground.
The Drive-Tight® footplate floats on top of the ground, unpinned, working together with the tension cable that runs from the top of the strainer post down to the base of the stay. That cable carries as much as two-thirds of the fence load, so the footplate isn’t left to sink, and the weight goes where your anchorage is strongest, at the base of the strainer. Because the cable is adjustable, you can re-tension the fence as conditions change instead of fighting them.

About the Drive-Tight® End Assembly
The Drive-Tight Post
Do you want the ease of driving a star picket and the versatility of a round steel post? The Drive-Tight post gives you both. The unique picket-shaped base drives in straighter than a round post, and the 100NB post is compatible with all standard fittings and gate hardware.
If you have a machine driver, the Drive-Tight post drives even easier and quicker thanks to the picket base, but you don't need one to get the job done. A hand-held post driver is all it takes.
Ground Anchorage
To ensure the post is secure in the ground, the Drive-Tight comes with built-in LokDown Lugs. Once the post is driven in, you drive a star picket through each lug into the ground. The angled star pickets act as underground anchors, resisting pull-out, twist, and lateral movement. The result: 8 times more ground anchorage than a standard round post. This system works in any soil type including soft, sandy, black soil, rocky terrain, and flood-prone areas.
The Complete Kit
Each Drive-Tight kit includes everything you need for a complete end assembly: post, cap, stay, post and stay connector, floating footplate, and tension cable with stainless steel eyebolt. All components bolt together using Rotech Rural's universal 19mm bolt system so one tool does the entire job.
All components are made from steel and are either hot dipped galvanised or stainless steel. That means they are termite proof, fire proof, and built to last decades in Australian conditions.
Speed of Installation
The entire end assembly can be installed in under 15 minutes. You could easily do 10 to 30 assemblies in a single day. If you can find a quicker end assembly, we want to know! (We haven't found one yet.)
Post Sizes
All Drive-Tight posts are 100NB (114mm O.D) with 4.5mm wall thickness. You can choose between a 40NB stay (good general purpose stay) or a 50NB heavy-duty stay for higher strain applications. Posts are available in 2100mm (7') and 2400mm (8') lengths.
Stainless Steel Eyebolt Option
The stainless steel eyebolt option makes this one of the most corrosion-resistant end assemblies on the market. Ideal for coastal properties or anywhere salt air is a factor.

Yes. The Drive-Tight’s strength comes from mechanical ground anchorage, not welding. The LokDown Lugs deliver 8 times more ground anchorage than a regular post, and all components bolt together with the universal 19mm system. Unlike welded assemblies, the Drive-Tight is also fully adjustable, you can re-tension and reposition components over time rather than watching a rigid welded assembly slowly fail.
Yes. The picket-shaped base cuts through soil more easily than a round post and drives straighter. In very rocky ground, the post may not reach full depth, but the LokDown Lugs compensate as the angled star pickets find their own path between rocks and provide anchorage that a round post alone can’t match.
This is where the Drive-Tight really excels. Soft, wet, and reactive black soils are the hardest conditions for a standard post. They shift, lift, and lose grip. The LokDown Lugs anchor the post with star pickets driven at 40 degrees underground, resisting pull-out and lateral movement even when the soil is saturated.
The LokDown Lugs are joined onto the Drive-Tight post at a 40-degree angle. Once the post is driven in, you drive a standard star picket through each lug and into the ground. The angled pickets act as underground anchors. These resist pulling out, twisting, and lateral movement in every direction. It’s a simple system that delivers 8 times more ground anchorage than a regular post.
All Drive-Tight posts are 100NB (114mm outside diameter) with a 4.5mm wall thickness. Posts are available in 2100mm (7’) and 2400mm (8’) lengths. The 100NB size is compatible with all standard fittings and gate hardware.
The Drive-Tight can be driven into virtually any soil type: soft, sandy, black soil, clay, rocky terrain, and flood-prone areas. The unique picket-shaped base drives straighter than a round post and cuts through soil more easily. In extremely hard or rocky ground, a machine driver will make the job easier, but a hand-held post driver works in most conditions.
The picket base is factory-welded to the round post as a single integrated unit. There’s no assembly required, it arrives ready to drive. The transition from the picket base to the round 100NB post is engineered so the post drives straight and true, and the round section above ground is fully compatible with all standard fittings.
