The STAYTIGHT End Assembly range gives you three solid options — Hand-Driveable, Machine-Driveable, and Concrete-In — and choosing the right one comes down to your site, your setup, and how quickly you need the job done.
What to Consider Before You Choose
Every fencing project is different. A boundary fence on flat, accessible country is a very different job to running a fence through steep, rocky terrain with limited machinery and vehicle access. Before picking an end assembly, it’s worth thinking about four key factors: time, site access, the materials and equipment you’ve got on hand, and the overall cost — not just the product price, but the full cost of getting the job done.

Hand-Driveable: The Drive-Tight Post
If speed and simplicity are what you’re after, the Hand-Driveable Drive-Tight Post is hard to beat. It can be installed in under five minutes using just a handheld driver, and the post is immediately ready to strain — no waiting around for concrete to set. The Drive-Tight Post only weighs around 20kg, so one person can carry it to site along with the hand driver without needing vehicle access. That makes it the standout option for hard-to-reach locations, steep country, or anywhere you can’t get machinery in.
The trade-off? It sits at the higher end of the range in terms of material cost. But when you factor in the time, labour, and equipment savings, it can be the most cost-effective option overall. We also highly recommend making use of the Drive-Tight lugs, which require just two short star pickets to complete the assembly.
Machine-Drivable: When You’ve Got the Gear
The Machine-Drivable end assembly is a great middle-ground option. Installation takes around 10 minutes with a pneumatic post driver, and like the Drive-Tight, the post is ready to strain straight away — no curing time needed. It sits in the middle of the price range too, making it a popular choice for larger projects where you’re already running machinery on site.
The key thing to keep in mind is that you’ll need a pneumatic driver powerful enough to drive an 80NB or 100NB post 1,200mm into the ground. Most handheld drivers won’t have the grunt for this, so you’re looking at a decent-sized machine. If you don’t already own one, you’ll need to factor in hire costs. Your site also needs to be accessible enough to get that equipment in and out.


Concrete-In: The Traditional Approach
The Concrete-In end assembly is the lowest-cost option in the STAYTIGHT range when it comes to material price. It’s the method most people are familiar with, and it can get the job done reliably. However, it does require the most time and labour of the three options. You’ll need digging tools or machinery, a concrete mixer, and concrete — plus the concrete needs to cure overnight before you can strain the fence. That means a minimum of two site visits, which adds up in travel time and labour costs.
It’s a solid option when you’ve got easy site access, the right equipment, and you’re not in a rush to get the fence strained. But if you’re working across multiple sites or on a tight timeline, the total cost can climb quickly once you account for the extra time and trips.

If you’ve got machinery on site and want a balance of speed and cost, the Machine-Driveable option is your best bet.
